169 Revocation and discontinuance of search warrant23
Attorney-General may revoke search warrant24
(1) The Attorney-General may, by writing, revoke a search warrant at25
any time.26
(2) If the Attorney-General revokes a search warrant, the27
Attorney-General must, as soon as practicable:28
(a) inform the Director-General of the revocation; and29
(b) cause the revocation to be given to the Director-General.30

(3) The revocation takes effect when the Director-General is informed1
of the revocation.2
Director-General must revoke search warrant in certain3
circumstances4
(4) The Director-General must take the actions in subsection (5) if:5
(a) a search warrant is in force; and6
(b) the Director-General becomes satisfied that the grounds on7
which the warrant was issued have ceased to exist.8
(5) The actions are to, as soon as practicable:9
(a) by writing, revoke the warrant; and10
(b) inform the Attorney-General that the Director-General is11
satisfied that the grounds on which the warrant was issued12
have ceased to exist and the warrant has been revoked.13
Discontinuance of activities under search warrant14
(6) If a search warrant is revoked, the Director-General must15
immediately take such steps as are necessary to ensure that any16
acts authorised by the warrant are discontinued.17
170 Director-General to give reports about execution of search18
warrants19
(1) As soon as practicable after 30 June and 31 December in each year,20
the Director-General must give a written report to the21
Attorney-General, the Minister and the Inspector-General of22
Intelligence and Security that complies with subsection (2).23
(2) The report must, for each search warrant that ceased to be in force24
at any time during the period of 6 months ending on the 30 June or25
31 December, state whether the warrant was executed, and, if so,26
give details of:27
(a) the extent to which the action taken under the warrant has28
assisted the ACIC in carrying out its functions;29
(b) the compliance with the conditions or restrictions (if any)30
that apply to the warrant;31
(c) any assistance order made in relation to the warrant;32
