### sec.303 Giving or receiving consideration
A person must not give or receive, or agree to give or receive, a payment or other reward in consideration of—
the adoption or proposed adoption of a child; or
the giving of consent to the adoption of a child; or
the transfer of a child’s care or custody with a view to the child’s adoption; or
a negotiation or arrangement for a child’s adoption.
Maximum penalty—
for an individual—150 penalty units or 18 months imprisonment; or
for a corporation—1,000 penalty units.
Subsection (1) applies before or after the birth of the relevant child.
It is immaterial whether the adoption happens or may lawfully happen.
