### sec.83 Transitional provision for IIB A person who, immediately before the commencement, was a member of the Island Industries Board under the repealed Torres Strait Act continues as a member of IIB until the end of the term for which the member was appointed. The person who, immediately before the commencement, was the member of the Island Industries Board under the repealed Torres Strait Act who held appointment as chairperson of the Island Industries Board continues as chairperson of IIB until the end of the term for which the member was appointed as chairperson. The person who, immediately before the commencement, was the member of the Island Industries Board under the repealed Torres Strait Act who held appointment as deputy chairperson of the Island Industries Board continues as deputy chairperson of IIB until IIB otherwise decides. The provisions of part 7A about disqualification from or vacation of office as a member or chairperson of IIB apply to a member or chairperson mentioned in subsection (1) or (2), including in relation to any period for which the person held appointment before the commencement. Subject to part 7A, all other matters relating to the Island Industries Board under the repealed Torres Strait Act, including for example contracts and employment arrangements entered into before the commencement, are not affected by the repeal of that Act and the commencement of part 7A. s 83 prev s 83 om 2004 No. 37 s 86 sch 1 pres s 83 ins 2007 No. 59 s 46 (sec.83-ssec.1) A person who, immediately before the commencement, was a member of the Island Industries Board under the repealed Torres Strait Act continues as a member of IIB until the end of the term for which the member was appointed. (sec.83-ssec.2) The person who, immediately before the commencement, was the member of the Island Industries Board under the repealed Torres Strait Act who held appointment as chairperson of the Island Industries Board continues as chairperson of IIB until the end of the term for which the member was appointed as chairperson. (sec.83-ssec.3) The person who, immediately before the commencement, was the member of the Island Industries Board under the repealed Torres Strait Act who held appointment as deputy chairperson of the Island Industries Board continues as deputy chairperson of IIB until IIB otherwise decides. (sec.83-ssec.4) The provisions of part 7A about disqualification from or vacation of office as a member or chairperson of IIB apply to a member or chairperson mentioned in subsection (1) or (2), including in relation to any period for which the person held appointment before the commencement.
