### sec.56 Prohibited acts
A person must not do, or attempt to do, a prohibited act in relation to land within the Wet Tropics Area, unless the person is the holder of a licence, permit or other authority—
issued or given by the Authority under a regulation; or
issued or given by the Governor in Council under another Act.
Maximum penalty—3,000 penalty units, imprisonment for 2 years or both.
To remove any doubt, subsection (1) does not affect any rights that Aboriginal people have in relation to forest products under another law.
In this section—
prohibited act means—
in relation to a forestry operation—
destroying a forest product; or
constructing or establishing a road or vehicular track; or
carrying out any excavation works; or
destroying a forest product, unless exempted under a regulation; or
another act prescribed by regulation to be a prohibited act.

- (a) issued or given by the Authority under a regulation; or
- (b) issued or given by the Governor in Council under another Act.
- (a) in relation to a forestry operation— (i) destroying a forest product; or (ii) constructing or establishing a road or vehicular track; or (iii) carrying out any excavation works; or
- (i) destroying a forest product; or
- (ii) constructing or establishing a road or vehicular track; or
- (iii) carrying out any excavation works; or
- (b) destroying a forest product, unless exempted under a regulation; or
- (c) another act prescribed by regulation to be a prohibited act.
