### sec.6C Meaning of public monument
A public monument is a thing that is—
mentioned in the Weapons Categories Regulation 1997 , section 8 (1) (a) , (c) , (i) or (j) ; and
permanently incapable of being discharged; and
permanently and lawfully displayed in a public place for memorial or commemorative purposes.

a permanently deactivated Bofors anti-aircraft gun mounted on a concrete platform in a public park
For subsection (1) (c) , a thing is permanently displayed only if the thing is displayed in a way that prevents its removal by an unauthorised person.
In this section—
public place includes a place that can be seen from a public place.

(sec.6C-ssec.2) For subsection (1) (c) , a thing is permanently displayed only if the thing is displayed in a way that prevents its removal by an unauthorised person.
(sec.6C-ssec.3) In this section— public place includes a place that can be seen from a public place.
- (a) mentioned in the Weapons Categories Regulation 1997 , section 8 (1) (a) , (c) , (i) or (j) ; and
- (b) permanently incapable of being discharged; and
- (c) permanently and lawfully displayed in a public place for memorial or commemorative purposes.
