### sec.436 Power about preventing or minimising adverse effects—general
The regulator may, for the purpose of preventing or minimising the adverse effect—
direct any person to take stated reasonable steps within a stated reasonable period; or
take the reasonable steps; or
authorise an authorised officer to take the reasonable steps.
A direction under subsection (1) (a) may be given orally or by written notice.
However, if the direction is given orally, the regulator must as soon as practicable confirm the direction by notice given to the person.
When giving a person a direction under subsection (1) (a) , the regulator must warn the person it is an offence not to comply with the direction unless the person has a reasonable excuse.
