### sec.168 Notice requiring connection to registered service
The service provider may, by notice given to the owner of premises in the service area, require the owner to carry out works for connecting the premises to a registered service.
The notice must state—
the work to be carried out on the premises to enable the service to be supplied; and
The Planning Act provides for the process of granting approvals for the work.
a reasonable period, but not less than 20 business days, for completing the work; and
that the work must be completed within the stated period or any extension of the period agreed to by the service provider; and
anything else the owner must do to enable the service to be supplied.
The owner must comply with the notice unless the owner has a reasonable excuse.
Maximum penalty—200 penalty units.
When the owner has satisfactorily completed the work, the service provider must connect the owner’s premises to the service provider’s infrastructure.
This section does not apply to a service provider that is a distributor-retailer.
