### sec.342 Designation of regions
A regulation may designate a part of the state other than the SEQ region as a designated region for this part.
Before recommending the making of a regulation under subsection (1) , the Minister must—
have regard to—
the geography, society and economy of the proposed designated region; and
water users and potential water users in the proposed designated region; and
consider options for achieving water security for the proposed designated region; and
consult with each local government whose local government area is wholly or partly in the proposed designated region.
The Minister may carry out the consultation in any way the Minister considers appropriate.
