### sec.25R Applying for compensation
A person, including a service provider, who suffers loss or damage because of actions taken under this part may apply to the Minister for compensation for the loss or damage.
The application must be made in writing within 65 business days after the person suffers the loss or damage.
The application must state—
details of the person’s loss or damage; and
the amount of compensation claimed and the grounds for the amount claimed.
The applicant must also provide any other relevant information reasonably required by the Minister to decide the application.
Despite subsection (2) , the Minister may accept a person’s application for compensation made more than 65 business days after the person suffers the loss or damage if the Minister is satisfied it would be reasonable in all the circumstances to accept the application.
The Minister’s acceptance of an application for compensation does not give an applicant an entitlement to the compensation.
