### sec.163 Cancelling water allocations
The chief executive may cancel a water allocation if the water allocation is surrendered.
However, if the chief executive cancels a water allocation managed under a resource operations licence or a distribution operations licence, the chief executive must give notice of the cancellation to the licence holder.
If the chief executive cancels a water allocation, the chief executive must give notice to the registrar.
On receiving notice, the registrar must record the cancellation on the water allocations register.

(sec.163-ssec.1) The chief executive may cancel a water allocation if the water allocation is surrendered.
