### sec.159 Applying for water allocation dealing consistent with water allocation dealing rules
The holder of a water allocation may apply to the chief executive for a water allocation dealing, other than a transfer or lease, under the water allocation dealing rules.
The chief executive must—
if the application is for a type of dealing permitted under the water allocation dealing rules—approve the application; or
if the application is for a type of dealing assessed under the water allocation dealing rules—approve or refuse the application and, if approved, approve it with or without conditions;
if the application for a type of dealing prohibited under the water allocation dealing rules—refuse the application.
The chief executive must not approve an application unless the dealing is consistent with the water allocation dealing rules.
If the chief executive approves an application for a water allocation dealing, the chief executive must give the applicant a certificate of the dealing.

(sec.159-ssec.1) The holder of a water allocation may apply to the chief executive for a water allocation dealing, other than a transfer or lease, under the water allocation dealing rules.
(sec.159-ssec.2) The chief executive must—

(sec.159-ssec.3) The chief executive must not approve an application unless the dealing is consistent with the water allocation dealing rules.
(sec.159-ssec.4) If the chief executive approves an application for a water allocation dealing, the chief executive must give the applicant a certificate of the dealing.
- (a) if the application is for a type of dealing permitted under the water allocation dealing rules—approve the application; or
- (b) if the application is for a type of dealing assessed under the water allocation dealing rules—approve or refuse the application and, if approved, approve it with or without conditions;
- (c) if the application for a type of dealing prohibited under the water allocation dealing rules—refuse the application.
