### sec.226 Information notice for forfeiture decision
If the chief executive decides under section 225 (1) to forfeit a thing, the chief executive must as soon as practicable give a person who owned the thing immediately before the forfeiture (the former owner ) an information notice for the decision.
The information notice may be given by leaving it at the place where the thing was seized, in a conspicuous position and in a reasonably secure way.
The information notice must state that the former owner may apply for a stay of the decision if he or she seeks a review of the decision.
However, subsections (1) to (3) do not apply if—
the decision was made under section 225 (1) (a) or (b) ; and
the place where the thing was seized is—
a public place; or
a place where the notice is unlikely to be read by the former owner.
