### sec.10 Meaning of polluter pays principle
The polluter pays principle is the principle that all costs associated with the management of waste should be borne by the persons who generated the waste.
The costs associated with the management of waste may include the costs of—
minimising the amount of waste generated; and
containing, treating and disposing of waste; and
rectifying environmental harm caused by waste.
