### 19A Automatic disqualification for excessive speeding

> > (1) [*\[Section 19A Subsection (1) substituted by No. 72 of 2007, Sched. 1, Applied:28 Apr 2008\]*](/view/html/inforce/2008-04-28/act-2007-072#JS1@Ja41@GC1@Hpa@EN) If a person who commits an excessive speeding offence is taken to have been convicted of that offence in accordance with [section 20 of the](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-2005-057#GS20@EN) [Monetary Penalties Enforcement Act 2005](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-2005-057) –

> > > > (a) the person is, by that conviction, disqualified from driving for a period starting and ending on the dates specified in a notice of disqualification served on the person by the Registrar; and

> > > > (b) if the person holds an Australian driver licence, the licence is suspended for the period of the disqualification.

> > (2) The penalty imposed by [subsection (1)](#GS19A@Gs1@EN) is in addition to any other penalty that the person may be liable to in respect of the excessive speeding offence.
