### sec.448 Hearing of application
The court may hear an application that does not comply with this part if the court directs.
The court may decide an application to which this part applies on the basis of, or partly on the basis of, the contents of the letters between the applicant and the respondent.
The court may receive affidavit evidence in relation to the application only if the court directs.
Subrule (3) applies despite rule 390 .
