### sec.423 Purposes of part
The main purposes of this part are to—
provide for the giving of appropriate directions in relation to expert evidence; and
declare the duty of an expert in relation to the court and the parties to a proceeding; and
provide for the giving of expert evidence by reports; and
provide for the appointment of experts jointly by the parties to a proceeding and by the court.
