### sec.91ZU Public passenger service starting in taxi service area for a taxi
A person must not use a taxi to provide a public passenger service for a journey that starts in a taxi service area unless—
the taxi service area in which the journey starts is the taxi service area for the taxi; or
a condition of the taxi service licence otherwise authorises the taxi to be used to provide a public passenger service for the journey.
Maximum penalty—40 penalty units.
For subsection (1) , it does not matter where the journey ends or if the journey involves leaving and re-entering the taxi service area.
This section does not apply to the use of a taxi to provide a public passenger service under a contract with a government entity.
In this section—
government entity means—
any State or the Commonwealth; or
a department, service, agency, authority, commission, corporation, instrumentality, board, office or other entity established for a government purpose of any State or the Commonwealth; or
a part of an entity mentioned in paragraph (b) .
