The holder of a service contract may, with the chief executive’s approval—
transfer to another person all the holder’s rights and liabilities in relation to providing future services under the contract; or
if the contract relates to more than 1 area, route or service, transfer to another person all the holder’s rights and liabilities in relation to providing future services under the contract for 1 or more of the areas, routes or services; or
surrender the contract.
On the transfer of rights and liabilities under subsection (1) , for all purposes of this Act—
the transferee becomes the holder of a new service contract consisting of the transferred rights and liabilities for the remaining period of the original contract; and
the transferor becomes the holder of a new service contract for the balance of the original rights and liabilities under the contract.
If an original service contract is for 2 school service routes, and 1 of the routes is transferred under this section, there are now 2 separate contracts for the purposes of an entitlement to a first opportunity to an offer for a new contract under section 62AC .
