### sec.79 Delegation by harbour master
A harbour master may delegate the harbour master’s functions to—
an officer or employee of the public service who the harbour master is satisfied has the necessary expertise or experience to exercise the functions; or
a shipping inspector; or
an officer or employee of a port authority; or
an employee of MSQ; or
a police officer; or
someone else prescribed by regulation.
A delegation under subsection (1) (d) has effect only if the commissioner of the police service has given written approval to the proposed delegation.
In this section—
functions include powers.

(sec.79-ssec.1) A harbour master may delegate the harbour master’s functions to— an officer or employee of the public service who the harbour master is satisfied has the necessary expertise or experience to exercise the functions; or a shipping inspector; or an officer or employee of a port authority; or an employee of MSQ; or a police officer; or someone else prescribed by regulation.
(sec.79-ssec.2) A delegation under subsection (1) (d) has effect only if the commissioner of the police service has given written approval to the proposed delegation.
