### sec.29 Certain discharges permissible
The regulations may exempt discharges from the operation of the discharge offences.
However, a regulation may be made only if it gives effect to an exemption allowed under MARPOL.
The regulations may prescribe that oil may be discharged outside specified areas, at a rate and under conditions prescribed under MARPOL. A discharge made outside the area, at the prescribed rate and under the prescribed conditions does not contravene this Act.
(sec.29-ssec.1) The regulations may exempt discharges from the operation of the discharge offences.
