### sec.449 Immediate suspension in the public interest
Despite sections 445 and 446 , this section applies if the chief executive considers it is necessary in the interest of public safety to immediately suspend an approval or exemption.
The chief executive may, by written notice to the holder of the approval or exemption, other than a class exemption, immediately suspend the approval or exemption until the earlier of the following—
a notice is given to the holder under section 447 (2) ; or
the end of 56 days after the day the notice under this section is given to the holder.
The chief executive may, by written notice to the class representative for a class exemption, immediately suspend the exemption until the earlier of the following—
a notice is given for the exemption under section 447 (2) ; or
the end of 56 days after the day the notice under this section is given to the class representative.
If the chief executive suspends a class exemption, the chief executive must give notice of the suspension in the gazette.
A notice under subsection (2) or (3) must state the reasons for the decision and be accompanied by an information notice.

(sec.449-ssec.3) The chief executive may, by written notice to the class representative for a class exemption, immediately suspend the exemption until the earlier of the following— a notice is given for the exemption under section 447 (2) ; or the end of 56 days after the day the notice under this section is given to the class representative.
(sec.449-ssec.4) If the chief executive suspends a class exemption, the chief executive must give notice of the suspension in the gazette.
