### sec.12 Appointment of Chief Justice
The Governor in Council may, by commission, appoint a judge to be Chief Justice.
See the Constitution of Queensland 2001 , section 59 (Appointment of judges) for the oath or affirmation requirement.
A judge may be appointed as Chief Justice either at the time of the person’s appointment as a judge or at any time afterwards.
