### sec.19 Period of licence
A licence shall take effect on the date of its issue by the chief executive and shall continue to have effect for the period specified therein, not exceeding—
in a case where the Governor in Council has approved that the licence may be granted for a period that is in excess of 25 years—that period;
in any other case—25 years;
unless it is duly cancelled or surrendered.
On expiry of a licence the chief executive may issue to the person who, immediately before the expiry, was the holder thereof a further licence.
The holder of a licence may surrender the licence to the chief executive at any time.
