### sec.161 Power as to roads
This section applies if a rearrangement of roads is required to be made for the undertaking of works by the Coordinator-General or for the implementation of an approved development scheme.
The Coordinator-General may, by gazette notice, do 1 or more of the following—
permanently or temporarily close all or part of an existing road;
open and construct new roads;
increase the width of a road;
divert a road.
The Coordinator-General may also—
make surveys for new roads; and
raise or lower the soil of a road.
Before the closure of all or part of a road takes effect, the Coordinator-General must publish, in a newspaper circulating in the relevant local government area, a notice about the closure.
Failure to comply with subsection (4) does not invalidate the closure.
The Coordinator-General may do everything necessary to stop traffic using a road or part of a road closed under subsection (2) (a) .
If all or part of a road is permanently closed, the land comprising the road or part of the road may be—
used for the works being undertaken by the Coordinator-General or for the implementation of the approved development scheme; or
otherwise disposed of.
To remove any doubt, it is declared that this section applies—
whether or not a road is a State-controlled road under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 ; and
whether or not the Land Act 1994 applies to a road.
