### sec.61 Responsible Ministers may give directions in public interest
The responsible Ministers may give the board a written direction in relation to the Authority and its subsidiaries if the responsible Ministers are satisfied that, because of exceptional circumstances, it is necessary to give the direction in the public interest.
The board must ensure the direction is complied with in relation to the Authority and must, as far as practicable, ensure it is complied with in relation to its subsidiaries.
Before giving the direction, the responsible Ministers must—
consult with the board; and
ask the board to advise them whether, in its opinion, complying with the direction would not be in the commercial interests of the Authority or any of its subsidiaries.
