### sec.53BC What is a public entity A public entity is— a local government; or a government company or part of a government company; or a State instrumentality, agency, authority or entity or a division, branch or other part of a State instrumentality, agency, authority or entity; or a department or a division, branch or other part of a department; or a GOC Act entity; or a government entity prescribed under a regulation under the GOC Act , section 4 . In this section— GOC Act means the Government Owned Corporations Act 1993 . GOC Act entity means an entity established under a regulation under the GOC Act . government company means a corporation incorporated under the Corporations Act all the stock or shares in the capital of which is or are beneficially owned by the State. s 53BC ins 2010 No. 20 s 9 (sec.53BC-ssec.1) A public entity is— a local government; or a government company or part of a government company; or a State instrumentality, agency, authority or entity or a division, branch or other part of a State instrumentality, agency, authority or entity; or a department or a division, branch or other part of a department; or a GOC Act entity; or a government entity prescribed under a regulation under the GOC Act , section 4 . (sec.53BC-ssec.2) In this section— GOC Act means the Government Owned Corporations Act 1993 .
