### sec.15 Exceptional circumstances grants for eligible disasters before commencement This section applies if— before the commencement, the Minister published an assistance establishment notice for an eligible disaster; and the stated closing day in the assistance establishment notice was after the day of the commencement; and after the commencement, the Minister amends the assistance establishment notice to increase the maximum total amount of assistance that may be given under the scheme to an eligible entity to an amount greater than $25,000. Schedule 23, section 7, as amended by the Rural and Regional Adjustment (Variation of Special Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants Scheme) Amendment Regulation 2021 , applies in relation to an application by an eligible entity for assistance for the eligible disaster— made, but not decided, before the day the amendment mentioned in subsection (1)(c) takes effect; or made on or after the day the amendment mentioned in subsection (1)(c) takes effect.
