### sch.23-sec.23 Requirements for applications
This section applies to an application for assistance under the scheme for damage caused by an eligible disaster.
An application must—
be made on the authority’s application form; and
be accompanied by the documents stated in the application; and
be given to the authority.
An applicant may apply for assistance for only 1 of the following—
a standard grant;
an exceptional circumstances grant.
If the application for assistance is for a 2019–2020 extraordinary bushfire disaster—
the application must also be accompanied by—
a list of the things under section 9 (2) for which assistance under the scheme is claimed, including an estimate of the cost of each thing; and
photographic evidence of the direct damage caused by the disaster; and
despite subsection (3) , the applicant may make 1 or more further applications for assistance for an exceptional circumstances grant for the disaster if—
the applicant has incurred further costs for any of the things mentioned in section 9 (2) ; and
the total amount the applicant has received, or has been approved to receive, for assistance under the scheme for the disaster is less than the maximum amount for the applicant under section 7 (3) .
Despite anything in an assistance establishment notice, an application for assistance for damage suffered by the applicant in one disaster zone may also relate to damage suffered by the applicant in another disaster zone.
An application must be received by the authority no later than the closing day for the application.
The authority may ask an applicant to give further relevant information required to decide the application.
