### sec.268 Rules made by the provider
A provider may make house rules for rental premises about any of the following matters—
using shared facilities;
parking motor vehicles;
drinking alcohol or illegally consuming other drugs;
smoking;
making noise;
keeping pets;
guests;
another matter prescribed under a regulation.
A rule made under subsection (1) has effect as a house rule for the rental premises only if—
it is consistent with—
the prescribed rules; and
the provider’s obligations and the resident’s rights under this Act; and
the rule is made under division 2 .
Subsection (2) (b) does not apply to the making of a rule when there are no residents for the rental premises.
A provider must not make a rule about a matter not provided for under subsection (1) .
Maximum penalty for subsection (4) —20 penalty units.
