### sec.86 Duty of witness to signing of declaration voting papers
An elector or other person (the witness ) must not sign a declaration envelope as witness under section 30 (8) (a) unless—
the witness is satisfied of the identity of the elector who signs the declaration before the witness; and
the witness has seen the elector sign the declaration; and
either—
the witness knows that the declaration made by the elector on the envelope is true; or
the witness is satisfied, on the basis of inquiries of the elector or otherwise, that the declaration is true.
Maximum penalty—20 penalty units or 6 months imprisonment.

- (c) either— (i) the witness knows that the declaration made by the elector on the envelope is true; or (ii) the witness is satisfied, on the basis of inquiries of the elector or otherwise, that the declaration is true.
