### sec.72 Author of referendum matter must be named
A person must not, during a referendum period—
print, publish, distribute or broadcast; or
permit or authorise another person to print, publish, distribute or broadcast;
any advertisement, handbill, pamphlet or notice containing referendum matter unless there appears, or is stated, at its end the particulars required by subsection (2) .
Maximum penalty—
for an individual—20 penalty units; or
for a corporation—85 penalty units.
The particulars are the name and address (other than a post office box) of the person who authorised the advertisement, handbill, pamphlet or notice.
Subsection (1) does not apply to an advertisement—
that is printed, published or distributed on a car sticker, T-shirt, lapel button, lapel badge, pen, pencil or balloon; or
that is of a kind prescribed under a regulation for this subsection.
In this section—
publish includes publish on the internet, even if the internet site on which the publication is made is located outside Queensland.
