### sec.56 Criteria for applications—accreditation certificates
In deciding whether an applicant for an accreditation certificate is a suitable person to hold the certificate, the chief executive may have regard to the following—
the qualifications, training, skills, knowledge and experience of the applicant that are relevant to the applicant’s competency to assess whether the type of radiation source or premises, to which the application relates, complies with the relevant radiation safety standard;
if the applicant has been convicted of an indictable offence—the nature, and circumstances of the commission, of the offence;
whether the applicant has been convicted of an offence against this Act, the repealed Act or a corresponding law;
whether the applicant held an accreditation certificate under this Act, or a similar instrument under a corresponding law, that was suspended or cancelled;
anything else relevant to the following in so far as exposure to radiation is concerned—
the health or safety of any person;
harm to the environment.

- (b) if the applicant has been convicted of an indictable offence—the nature, and circumstances of the commission, of the offence;
- (c) whether the applicant has been convicted of an offence against this Act, the repealed Act or a corresponding law;
- (d) whether the applicant held an accreditation certificate under this Act, or a similar instrument under a corresponding law, that was suspended or cancelled;
- (e) anything else relevant to the following in so far as exposure to radiation is concerned— (i) the health or safety of any person; (ii) harm to the environment.
