### sec.86 Alternative qualification for mechanical services—air-conditioning and refrigeration occupational licence
This section applies to an application for a mechanical services occupational licence of a class mentioned in schedule 3A, part 3 (Mechanical services—air-conditioning and refrigeration occupational licence) if—
either—
the application was made, but not decided, before the commencement; or
the application is made after the commencement but before 1 October 2021; and
the applicant does not have the technical qualifications stated in the technical qualifications document for the licence class; and
the commission is satisfied the applicant has, for at least 6 months, carried out work that—
is within the scope of work for the licence class; and
complies with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 .
For section 32AB (1) (a) of the Act , the qualification for the licence is the carrying out of air-conditioning and refrigeration work, before 1 January 2020, for at least 2 years.
This section applies to the application—
despite section 15A; and
until the end of 31 December 2021.
In this section—
air-conditioning and refrigeration work means constructing, installing, replacing, repairing, altering, maintaining, testing or commissioning air-conditioning, air handling systems and refrigeration for a building.

(sec.86-ssec.1) This section applies to an application for a mechanical services occupational licence of a class mentioned in schedule 3A, part 3 (Mechanical services—air-conditioning and refrigeration occupational licence) if— either— the application was made, but not decided, before the commencement; or the application is made after the commencement but before 1 October 2021; and the applicant does not have the technical qualifications stated in the technical qualifications document for the licence class; and the commission is satisfied the applicant has, for at least 6 months, carried out work that— is within the scope of work for the licence class; and complies with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 .
(sec.86-ssec.2) For section 32AB (1) (a) of the Act , the qualification for the licence is the carrying out of air-conditioning and refrigeration work, before 1 January 2020, for at least 2 years.
(sec.86-ssec.3) This section applies to the application— despite section 15A; and until the end of 31 December 2021.
(sec.86-ssec.4) In this section— air-conditioning and refrigeration work means constructing, installing, replacing, repairing, altering, maintaining, testing or commissioning air-conditioning, air handling systems and refrigeration for a building.
- (a) either— (i) the application was made, but not decided, before the commencement; or (ii) the application is made after the commencement but before 1 October 2021; and
- (i) the application was made, but not decided, before the commencement; or
- (ii) the application is made after the commencement but before 1 October 2021; and
- (b) the applicant does not have the technical qualifications stated in the technical qualifications document for the licence class; and
- (c) the commission is satisfied the applicant has, for at least 6 months, carried out work that— (i) is within the scope of work for the licence class; and (ii) complies with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 .
- (i) is within the scope of work for the licence class; and
- (ii) complies with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 .
- (i) the application was made, but not decided, before the commencement; or
- (ii) the application is made after the commencement but before 1 October 2021; and
- (i) is within the scope of work for the licence class; and
- (ii) complies with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 .
- (a) despite section 15A; and
- (b) until the end of 31 December 2021.
