### sec.67I Directions given under building contracts
This section applies if under a building contract the contracting party for the contract, or another person authorised under the contract, may, without the agreement of the contracted party for the contract, give a direction to the contracted party.
Unless the building contract otherwise provides, a direction may initially be given other than in writing.
However, if a direction is given other than in writing, the contracted party—
may ask for the direction to be given in writing; and
is not required to comply with the direction until it is given in writing.
If a direction is given other than in writing, the contracting party commits an offence if the direction is not given to the contracted party in writing within 3 business days after it was given other than in writing.
Maximum penalty—80 penalty units.
In this section—
direction includes agreement, approval, authorisation, certificate, decision, demand, determination, explanation, instruction, notice, order, permission, rejection, request or requirement.
