### sec.12 Appointment
The board consists of not more than 7 members appointed by the Governor in Council.
In appointing a person as a member, the Governor in Council is to—
have regard to the person’s ability to make a contribution to the effective and efficient performance of the commission’s functions; and
have regard to the person’s experience and competence in the following areas—
building and construction;
finance;
corporate governance and risk;
insurance, including knowledge and experience in the reinsurance market;
consumer advocacy and awareness;
public sector governance, including administration and enforcement of laws; and
as far as possible, ensure the board has equal representation of the areas mentioned in paragraph (b) .
The members are appointed under this Act and not the Public Sector Act 2022 .

- (i) building and construction;
- (ii) finance;
- (iii) corporate governance and risk;
- (iv) insurance, including knowledge and experience in the reinsurance market;
- (v) consumer advocacy and awareness;
- (vi) public sector governance, including administration and enforcement of laws; and
- (c) as far as possible, ensure the board has equal representation of the areas mentioned in paragraph (b) .
- (i) building and construction;
