### sec.296 Existing public service officers
This section applies to a person who, immediately before the commencement, held an appointment or employment as a public service officer.
The person continues to be a public service officer under this Act on the same terms of appointment or employment that applied to the person immediately before the commencement.
If there is doubt about whether a person is an existing public service officer, a chief executive may, if the person asks, declare the person to be an existing public service officer.
On the making of the declaration, subsections (1) and (2) are taken to have always applied to the person.
(sec.296-ssec.1) This section applies to a person who, immediately before the commencement, held an appointment or employment as a public service officer.
