### sec.47 Meaning of environmental health event
An environmental health event is an event involving human exposure to a substance or other thing that is known to have, or is reasonably suspected of having, an adverse effect on human health.
Exposure may happen in connection with—
a single identifiable event; or
an outbreak in a hospital of a new strain of a previously controlled bacterial infection
a situation that happens over a period of time.
