### sec.167 Chief executive may authorise examination of children at school, education and care service or QEC approved service
This section applies if the chief executive—
reasonably suspects that some or all of the children attending a school, education and care service or QEC approved service should be examined by a doctor because a child attending the school or service has, or may have, a contagious condition; and
has consulted the person in charge of the school or service about the examinations.
The chief executive may arrange for a doctor to examine some or all of the children attending the school or service to decide whether the children have, or may have, the condition.
Before the examinations take place the chief executive must give the person in charge of the school or service notice of the following—
the date and time of the examinations;
the contagious condition for which examinations are to be conducted;
the children, or class of children, to be examined;
the name and contact details of the doctor who is to conduct the examinations.
However, a child must not be examined without the consent of a parent of the child.
