### sec.3.2 Relation to office of constable
Subject to section 2 .3AA where it applies, in performance of the duties of office, an officer is subject to the directions and orders of the commissioner and to the orders of any superior officer.
A noncommissioned officer or a constable has and may exercise the powers, and has and is to perform the duties of a constable at common law or under any other Act or law.
An officer other than one referred to in subsection (2) has and may exercise the powers of a constable at common law or under any other Act or law.
Except as prescribed by this section and section 6 .4, this Act does not, in relation to any officer, derogate from the powers, obligations and liabilities of a constable at common law or under any other Act or law.
This section—
applies to a special constable (State officer) subject to section 5 .16A(4); and
applies to a special constable (associate) subject to section 5 .16B(1)(c).

(sec.3.2-ssec.4) Except as prescribed by this section and section 6 .4, this Act does not, in relation to any officer, derogate from the powers, obligations and liabilities of a constable at common law or under any other Act or law.
(sec.3.2-ssec.5) This section— applies to a special constable (State officer) subject to section 5 .16A(4); and applies to a special constable (associate) subject to section 5 .16B(1)(c).
