### sec.777 Police officer may authorise tow
This section applies if a police officer arranges for a motor vehicle impounded or forfeited to the State under division 2 to be moved to a holding yard.
A police officer may sign a towing authority for the motor vehicle.
The driver of a tow truck towing the motor vehicle under a towing authority must tow the motor vehicle to—
if the police officer directs the driver to tow the motor vehicle to a particular holding yard—the holding yard; or
if paragraph (a) does not apply—the holding yard to which the driver ordinarily tows motor vehicles.
In this section—
towing authority , in relation to a motor vehicle, means a document that states that a particular person is authorised to tow the vehicle.

- (b) if paragraph (a) does not apply—the holding yard to which the driver ordinarily tows motor vehicles.
