### sec.74J Power to attach immobilising device
This section applies if—
a police officer may impound a motor vehicle under division 1 or 1A ; and
the police officer decides that it is appropriate in the circumstances for the motor vehicle to be kept at a place other than a holding yard for the impoundment period.
The police officer may attach an immobilising device, or arrange for an immobilising device to be attached, to the motor vehicle.
Except as provided under this chapter, a motor vehicle to which an immobilising device is attached under this section is prohibited from being operated for the period for which the vehicle would have been kept in a holding yard commencing on the day the device is attached to the vehicle.

(sec.74J-ssec.1) This section applies if— a police officer may impound a motor vehicle under division 1 or 1A ; and the police officer decides that it is appropriate in the circumstances for the motor vehicle to be kept at a place other than a holding yard for the impoundment period.
(sec.74J-ssec.2) The police officer may attach an immobilising device, or arrange for an immobilising device to be attached, to the motor vehicle.
(sec.74J-ssec.3) Except as provided under this chapter, a motor vehicle to which an immobilising device is attached under this section is prohibited from being operated for the period for which the vehicle would have been kept in a holding yard commencing on the day the device is attached to the vehicle.
