### sec.553 General safeguards for inspection of entrant’s belongings
A police officer or protective services officer conducting an inspection of an entrant’s belongings under section 552 must—
ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, the way the inspection is conducted causes minimal embarrassment to the entrant; and
take reasonable care to protect the dignity of the entrant.
Also, if a police officer or protective services officer reasonably suspects it is necessary to protect the dignity of an entrant to a state building and it is reasonably practicable, the officer may ask the entrant to allow an inspection of the entrant’s belongings under section 552 (2) to be conducted out of public view, for example, in a room of the state building.

(sec.553-ssec.1) A police officer or protective services officer conducting an inspection of an entrant’s belongings under section 552 must— ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, the way the inspection is conducted causes minimal embarrassment to the entrant; and take reasonable care to protect the dignity of the entrant.
(sec.553-ssec.2) Also, if a police officer or protective services officer reasonably suspects it is necessary to protect the dignity of an entrant to a state building and it is reasonably practicable, the officer may ask the entrant to allow an inspection of the entrant’s belongings under section 552 (2) to be conducted out of public view, for example, in a room of the state building.
- (a) ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, the way the inspection is conducted causes minimal embarrassment to the entrant; and
- (b) take reasonable care to protect the dignity of the entrant.
