Before a forensic examiner performs a forensic procedure on a person, a police officer must tell the person—

that the person has the right to have 2 people (each of whom is an independent person ) of the person’s choice present while it is being performed; and
that, for exercising the right mentioned in paragraph (b) , the person may—
telephone or speak to a friend or relative to inform the friend or relative of the person’s whereabouts and ask the friend or relative to be present while the procedure is being performed; and
telephone or speak to a lawyer and arrange, or attempt to arrange, for the lawyer to be present while the procedure is being performed.
