### sec.76N What is an oil shale exploration tenement and an oil shale mining lease
An oil shale exploration tenement is an exploration permit or mineral development licence granted for oil shale.
An oil shale mining lease is—
a mining lease for oil shale; or
a specific purpose mining lease for a purpose associated with, arising from or promoting the activity of oil shale mining, whether or not it is also granted for a purpose other than oil shale mining.
Subsections (1) and (2) (a) apply whether or not the lease, permit or licence is also granted for another mineral.

(sec.76N-ssec.1) An oil shale exploration tenement is an exploration permit or mineral development licence granted for oil shale.
(sec.76N-ssec.2) An oil shale mining lease is— a mining lease for oil shale; or a specific purpose mining lease for a purpose associated with, arising from or promoting the activity of oil shale mining, whether or not it is also granted for a purpose other than oil shale mining.
(sec.76N-ssec.3) Subsections (1) and (2) (a) apply whether or not the lease, permit or licence is also granted for another mineral.
- (a) a mining lease for oil shale; or
- (b) a specific purpose mining lease for a purpose associated with, arising from or promoting the activity of oil shale mining, whether or not it is also granted for a purpose other than oil shale mining.
