### sec.14 Preference must be given to compensation for victims
If a court considers—
that it is appropriate—
to make an order for compensation (whether under this or another Act); and
to impose a fine or make another order for payment of an amount of money; and
that the offender can not pay both the compensation and the fine or amount;
the court must give preference to making an order for compensation, but may also impose a sentence other than that of imprisonment.
- (a) that it is appropriate— (i) to make an order for compensation (whether under this or another Act); and (ii) to impose a fine or make another order for payment of an amount of money; and
