#### 279 Power to exclude certain persons
(1) The master of any ship may refuse to receive on board thereof any person who, by reason of drunkenness or otherwise, is in such a state, or misconducts himself or herself in such a manner, as to cause annoyance or injury to passengers on board; and, if any such person is on board, the master may after tendering to the person the amount of his or her fare (if that person has paid it) less a proper deduction in respect of the distance (if any) he or she has been conveyed from the port of embarkation, put the person ashore at any one of the principal ports in Australia (as defined in the regulations).
(2) The master of any ship may refuse to receive on board thereof any person who appears to be suffering from any disease likely to endanger the health or safety of those on board.
