### sec.171 Disposal of cultural or natural resources and protected wildlife owned by State
This section applies to a cultural or natural resource or protected wildlife that—
is the property of the State; and
has been seized under this Act in relation to an offence against this Act.
Despite any other provision of this Act, if the chief executive is satisfied that it is necessary to do so—
in the interests of the welfare of the resource or wildlife; or
for the protection of the resource or wildlife;
the chief executive may direct that the resource or wildlife be disposed of in such a way as the chief executive considers appropriate.
Subsection (2) applies even though a proceeding has not been taken for, or a person convicted of, the offence.
(sec.171-ssec.1) This section applies to a cultural or natural resource or protected wildlife that— is the property of the State; and has been seized under this Act in relation to an offence against this Act.
(sec.171-ssec.2) Despite any other provision of this Act, if the chief executive is satisfied that it is necessary to do so— in the interests of the welfare of the resource or wildlife; or for the protection of the resource or wildlife; the chief executive may direct that the resource or wildlife be disposed of in such a way as the chief executive considers appropriate.

- (a) is the property of the State; and
- (b) has been seized under this Act in relation to an offence against this Act.
- (a) in the interests of the welfare of the resource or wildlife; or
- (b) for the protection of the resource or wildlife;
