### sec.167 Limitation on time for starting summary proceedings
A proceeding for an offence against this Act by way of summary proceeding under the Justices Act 1886 must start—
within 1 year after—
the commission of the offence; or
the offence comes to the complainant’s knowledge, but not later than 2 years after the commission of the offence;
whichever is the later; or
if section 163 applies to the offence—within 1 year after—
the end of the relevant period; or
the offence comes to the complainant’s knowledge, but not later than 2 years after the end of the relevant period;
whichever is the later.

- (a) within 1 year after— (i) the commission of the offence; or (ii) the offence comes to the complainant’s knowledge, but not later than 2 years after the commission of the offence; whichever is the later; or

- (b) if section 163 applies to the offence—within 1 year after— (i) the end of the relevant period; or (ii) the offence comes to the complainant’s knowledge, but not later than 2 years after the end of the relevant period; whichever is the later.
- (i) the end of the relevant period; or
- (ii) the offence comes to the complainant’s knowledge, but not later than 2 years after the end of the relevant period;
- (i) the commission of the offence; or
- (ii) the offence comes to the complainant’s knowledge, but not later than 2 years after the commission of the offence;
