### sec.128 Appointment of honorary protectors
The Minister may, by signed writing, appoint a qualified person, with the person’s consent, to be an honorary protector.
An honorary protector—
holds office for the term, and subject to the conditions, specified in the instrument of appointment; and
has the powers of a conservation officer under section 151 and such other powers as may be prescribed; and
may resign by writing signed and given to the Minister.
In this section—
qualified person means a person who—
in the Minister’s opinion, has the necessary expertise or experience to be an honorary protector; or
has satisfactorily completed a course of training approved by the Minister.
(sec.128-ssec.1) The Minister may, by signed writing, appoint a qualified person, with the person’s consent, to be an honorary protector.
(sec.128-ssec.2) An honorary protector— holds office for the term, and subject to the conditions, specified in the instrument of appointment; and has the powers of a conservation officer under section 151 and such other powers as may be prescribed; and may resign by writing signed and given to the Minister.
(sec.128-ssec.3) In this section— qualified person means a person who— in the Minister’s opinion, has the necessary expertise or experience to be an honorary protector; or has satisfactorily completed a course of training approved by the Minister.
- (a) holds office for the term, and subject to the conditions, specified in the instrument of appointment; and
- (b) has the powers of a conservation officer under section 151 and such other powers as may be prescribed; and
- (c) may resign by writing signed and given to the Minister.
- (a) in the Minister’s opinion, has the necessary expertise or experience to be an honorary protector; or
- (b) has satisfactorily completed a course of training approved by the Minister.
