#### 59 Director‑General of the CDC may direct individual not to handle security‑sensitive biological agents
(1) This section applies if the Director‑General of the CDC considers, on reasonable grounds:
(a) that:
(i) an individual who is handling a security‑sensitive biological agent at a facility has not complied with this Part, regulations made for the purposes of this Part or the SSBA Standards; and
(ii) it would not be appropriate to require the individual or another entity to dispose of the security‑sensitive biological agent; or
(b) that the handling of a security‑sensitive biological agent at a facility by a particular individual poses a security risk.
(2) The Director‑General of the CDC may give a written notice to the individual directing the individual not to handle one or more specified security‑sensitive biological agents:
(a) at any time in the future; or
(b) until the individual satisfies the Director‑General that the individual has satisfactorily completed specified training; or
(c) until the individual satisfies the Director‑General that the individual has obtained a specified qualification or certification; or
(d) until the individual has complied with the requirements (if any) prescribed by the regulations.
> Note 1: The Director‑General of the CDC may give a notice to an individual under this section instead of, or in addition to, giving a direction to the individual or another entity requiring the individual or other entity to dispose of particular security‑sensitive biological agents.
> Note 2: Failure to comply with a direction under this section is an offence: see section 60.
